Ottawa, Ontario: On Saturday, August 22, 2020, Hockey Eastern Ontario (HEO) held a Special Meeting with its fourteen members to elect seven Board members, a President and six Directors. This is an historic moment for Hockey Eastern Ontario as the Members previously approved an amalgamation of HEO and HEO Minor.

HEO’s 2020-2021 Board of Directors include:

Gary Hopkins has been named Hockey Eastern Ontario’s President for the next two years. Gary Hopkins brings over 25 years as a hockey volunteer starting as an IP on ice helper and culminating as President of HEO Minor and a member of the HEO Board of Directors in 2020. Gary is a retired Bell Canada employee who has worked in both senior management and executive capacities.

Paul Ross, Krista Outhwaite and Joe Rubino have been elected for two (2) year terms as Directors.

Paul Ross has been a Minor Hockey volunteer since 2006, most recently serving as a VicePresident for HEO Minor as well as the Chairman of the U18AAA Board of Governors. Paul has also participated on several other HEO Task Teams.

Krista Outhwaite is a long-time minor hockey volunteer, serving in a variety of roles. Her most recent position was Chair of Bytown District. Krista is a retired public servant and brings skills and experience as a former deputy minister within the Government of Canada.

Joe Rubino brings over 25 years of minor Hockey volunteer experience, most recently as a VicePresident for HEO Minor where his primary responsibility was for Discipline, Appeals and Conduct Management. Joe also was involved in a number of operational and governance matters as well as serving as a representative of the U18 AAA Board of Governor’s.

Tim MacPherson, Marc Richer and Roch Levac have been elected for a one (1) year term as Directors.

Tim MacPherson has over 20 years of volunteering which included such duties as team official, convenor, District Chair and Director at Large with HEO Minor. Tim is currently working for Bell Canada with 25 years experience in various management positions within Finance and Information Technology.

Marc Richer has been involved with minor hockey in a variety of roles ranging from coach up to District Chair. His most recent role was as an HEO Minor Director at Large. Marc is a former treasurer to the Seaway Valley Chapter within the Ontario Electrical League. He is currently selfemployed allowing him the flexibility to give his time to HEO.

Roch Levac has had many positions within minor hockey over the years including President of Embrun Minor Hockey Association, Director positions such as U15, U9 and many others. Roch brings a broad range of skills from his experience with the Federal Government.

The new Board is excited at the challenges ahead and looks forward to working with all of our HEO hockey stakeholders as we enter this new chapter. The board is also looking forward to developing relationships with our Hockey Canada colleagues across Canada as we navigate through this challenging time
